THE EDUCATION-FIRST MISSION

What Most People Were Never Taught

Compound interest is the 8th wonder of the world. He who understands it, earns it. He who doesn't, pays it.

— Albert Einstein

La Sonya Conley and her team of financial professionals offer private financial education on the core principles of money to individuals and companies throughout the U.S. and abroad. We educate your staff on financial fundamentals that were never taught at school or home.

La Sonya and her team of licensed financial professionals provide a comprehensive lesson on how money works, how it grows, and most importantly, how it multiplies. When individuals and employees understand these principles, they make smarter decisions  personally and professionally  and entire communities begin to shift.

This community-bolstering effort is not only providing financial education and empowerment throughout the community we are bringing Wall Street to Main Street for common people who have been underserved in financial education for far too long.

CORE PRINCIPLES OF MONEY

The Rules That Change Everything

These are the foundational principles of money that most people were never taught — yet they govern every financial outcome in your life. Understanding them is the first step to true financial freedom.

The Rule of 72

The 8th Wonder of the World

The Rule of 72 is one of the most powerful  and most overlooked  principles in personal finance. Simply divide 72 by your annual interest rate and the result tells you exactly how many years it will take for your money to double. At 6% interest, your money doubles in 12 years. At 9%, just 8 years. At 12%, only 6 years. Albert Einstein reportedly called compound interest the 8th wonder of the world  and the Rule of 72 is the key that unlocks it. The earlier you start, the more times your money doubles. Time is your greatest financial asset.

EXAMPLE

Invest $10,000 at 9% annual return → doubles to $20,000 in 8 years → $40,000 in 16 years → $80,000 in 24 years. No additional contributions. Just time and the rule at work.

The Power of Compound Interest

Money That Makes Money — That Makes More Money

Compound interest is interest earned not just on your original principal, but on every dollar of interest you've already earned. It is money making money  and then that money making even more money. The longer your money compounds, the more exponential the growth becomes. A person who starts saving at 22 will accumulate dramatically more wealth than someone who starts at 32, even if the late starter contributes more per month. This is why financial education in your early years is not optional   it is essential. The cost of waiting is not just time. It is wealth.

THE COST OF WAITING

Starting at age 22 with $200/month at 8% → $702,000 by age 62. Starting at age 32 with $400/month at 8% → $588,000 by age 62. Starting earlier with half the contribution still wins — by over $100,000.

Pay Yourself First

The Foundation of Every Wealth-Building Strategy

Before you pay your bills, your rent, your car note — pay yourself. Set aside a percentage of every dollar you earn into a savings or investment vehicle before any other expense is considered. This single habit, practiced consistently, is the foundation upon which every great wealth-building strategy is built. Most people pay everyone else first and save whatever is left , which is usually nothing. Wealthy people reverse this equation. They decide what they will save, automate it, and live on the rest. Financial freedom is not about how much you earn. It is about how much you keep  and how strategically you grow it.

THE PRINCIPLE IN PRACTICE

Saving just 10% of a $50,000 income — $5,000/year — invested at 8% for 30 years grows to over $566,000. The habit matters more than the amount.

Infinite Banking — Be Your Own Bank

The Strategy That Puts You in Control of Your Money

Infinite Banking is a wealth-building strategy that uses a specially designed whole life insurance policy as your own personal banking system. Instead of depositing your money into a traditional bank,  where the bank lends it out and earns interest on your dollars   you become the bank. You fund a dividend paying whole life policy, build up cash value, and then borrow against that cash value to finance your own purchases, investments, and opportunities. You pay yourself back with interest. The policy keeps growing. The cycle repeats. This is how the wealthy have moved money for generations  and it is now available to everyday families who understand how it works.

THE RULE OF 72 CONNECTION

Here is where the Rule of 72 becomes extraordinary in the context of Infinite Banking. In a traditional savings account earning 0.5%, your money doubles in 144 years. In a whole life policy with a 5–6% dividend rate, your money doubles in roughly 12–14 years  and it does so tax-advantaged, with guarantees, and without market risk. But the real power is this: when you borrow against your policy, your full cash value continues to compound as if you never touched it. You are using the bank's money while your money keeps doubling. That is the Rule of 72 working twice,  once on your cash value, and once on whatever you deployed that borrowed capital into. This is not a trick. This is how banks and corporations have operated for over a century.

HOW IT WORKS IN PRACTICE

Fund a whole life policy with $500/month. After 10 years, your cash value may be $75,000+. You borrow $40,000 to buy a car  paying yourself back instead of a dealership. Your full $75,000 keeps compounding. You repay the loan on your schedule. The policy grows. You repeat the cycle for every major purchase, investment, or opportunity for the rest of your life.

THE D.I.M.E. METHOD

How Much Life Insurance Do You Actually Need?

Most people either have no life insurance, not enough, or the wrong kind. The D.I.M.E. method is a straightforward formula used by financial professionals to calculate exactly how much coverage a family needs to be fully protected, no guessing, no underinsuring.

D.I.M.E. stands for four critical financial obligations that your life insurance must be able to cover in the event of your passing:

Debt

All outstanding debts, credit cards, car loans, student loans, personal loans... everything except your mortgage. Your family should not inherit your financial burdens. Life insurance eliminates that risk entirely.

Income

Multiply your annual income by the number of years your family would need financial support   typically 10 to 15 years. This replaces the income your household depends on and gives your family time to stabilize, grieve, and rebuild without financial desperation.

Mortgage

The full payoff balance of your home. Your family should be able to stay in their home  not be forced to sell it or face foreclosure because the primary income earner is gone. This is non-negotiable.

Education

The projected cost of college or vocational education for each of your children. The average four-year university now costs $120,000–$200,000+. Your death should not end your child's educational future.

THE D.I.M.E. FORMULA

Total Coverage Needed = Debt + (Income × Years) + Mortgage Payoff + Education Costs

EXAMPLE CALCULATION

Debt: $25,000 · Income: $60,000 × 12 years = $720,000 · Mortgage: $180,000 · Education: $120,000 (2 children) = Total Coverage Needed: $1,045,000

What This Means for Most Families

The average American is underinsured by hundreds of thousands of dollars. Many rely on employer-provided group life insurance  typically 1–2× annual salary  which covers a fraction of what the D.I.M.E. formula reveals is actually needed. A proper Financial Needs Analysis, conducted by a licensed professional, applies the D.I.M.E. method to your specific situation and designs a coverage strategy that protects your family completely.
